Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Biotech Pure?
Biotech Pure is an Australian company that produces Australian-made, eco-friendly, effective cleaning and odour control products. 100% pure, made with vegetable extracts and natural essential oils. No toxic chemicals or artificial fragrances, no parabens, no phosphates, no ammonia, no palm oil, no Sodium Laurel Sulphate. Our organically-sourced ingredients have been specially formulated to clean your business and workplace and keep it smelling fresh.

Our ingredients include:

  • 100% natural organic essential oils for their amazing anti-bacterial, anti-viral or anti-fungal properties
  • 100% organically-sourced seasonal vegetable ingredients such as sugar beet, turnips and carrots
  • surfactant derived from copra (coconut oil)
  • surfactant derived from castor oil (castor bean)
  • Purified water

Our products are produced right here in Australia, from European formulations and using the highest quality natural ingredients from around the world, our products are truly pure.

What makes a cleaning product natural?
Natural is purely a marketing term that has no approved or legal definition. It would be more useful to consider the organic content. Although not legislated in Australia (legislation is proposed), the term “organic” is generally accepted as having 95% plant or naturally occurring ingredients excluding water and salt.
What is different about your products?
We use majority plant based ingredients in our products, including essential oils.
How is the way you formulate your products different from your competitors?
Plant based and organically farmed essential oils. Our formulations take advantage of the positive benefits that natural essential oils have.
What makes Biotech Pure different?
Biotech Pure helps businesses differentiate themselves by reducing their use of synthetic products.
Are essential oils dangerous?
Yes, in high concentrations essential oils are considered dangerous however in smaller concentrations are usually very safe
Do your odour products mask smells?
The odour products we sell eliminates bad smell through a process called adsorption. This is a chemical reaction that reacts with the bad smell to neutralise it. A produce that masks the smell (such as a toilet deodorant) will simply add another, smell that is more powerful so that you no longer notice the bad smell
Are all Biotech Pure products organic?
Biotech Pure products use plant based ingredients wherever possible. Antiseptic and fungidicidal properties cannot be guaranteed with organic ingredients at a cost effective price. Hence antiseptic and fungicidal products may have a very small percentage of synthetic ingredients. The ingredients chosen are non toxic in small quantities and non harmful.

What products have synthetic ingredients and what purpose do they provide?

  • Tripure Glass & Stainless Steel Cleaner has plant based ingredients plus a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to prevent streaking
  • Tripure Air Disinfectant has plant based ingredients plus contains isopropyl alcohol to kill bacteria
  • Tripure Alcohol Free Hand Sanitiser has plant based ingredients plus low levels of synthetic ingredients to kill bacteria
  • Tripure Grease & Heavy Duty cleaner has a very small amount of isopropyl alcohol to improve the grease cutting performance
Do your products contain chemicals?
It’s more useful to ask if the products contain organic or synthetic ingredients as everything is a chemical, even water (H20)!
Why do I need to mix your concentrates with water?
We supply products in a powerful concentrate to mix with water, making the products ready-to-use. Given water is plentiful and cheap, it makes our products more cost effective when you consider that adding water gives you considerably more ready-to-use product. And it’s good for the environment as we aren’t shipping water all over the country
How much water do I need to add to your concentrates?
Add 25ml of concentrate to 475ml of water (per 500mls). By adding the concentrate to the water, this reduce the amount of foaming
I’ve seen some companies claiming their products are safe enough to drink. Are yours?
If a product is safe enough to drink, chances are it is mostly water and probably not powerful enough to do the cleaning job you need it to. We design our products to be effective for the intended purpose, not to drink.
Who is Tripure?
Tripure is a brand of cleaning and odour control products for the Australian commercial and industrial markets devised by Biotech Pure Pty Ltd in late 2015. Tripure is a trade mark of Biotech Pure.
Are you an Australian company?
Biotech Pure, the company behind Tripure, are a proudly 100% Australian owned business. All profits remain in Australia.
How long have you been in business?
Biotech Pure was established in October 2014. All of the company owners have been in sales and marketing roles their entire career and the majority have been in the organic cleaning products business since 2007. Our European connections have been in the essential oils business since the early 1980’s.
Where are your products made?
All of our products are made in Brisbane, Australia, from local and imported ingredients
What’s wrong with the chlorine bleach my mother has used for years?
Chlorine bleach is caustic to the skin, lungs, and eyes (especially at higher concentrations); like many common disinfectants, it degrades in the presence of organic substances; it has a strong odor; it is not effective against Giardia lamblia and Cryptosporidium; and extreme caution must be taken not to combine it with ammonia or any acid (such as vinegar), as this can cause noxious gases to be formed. The best practice is not to add anything to household bleach except water. Source: Wikipedia.
Why do Tripure products have safety warnings?
The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) is a single internationally agreed system of chemical classification and hazard communication through labelling and Safety Data Sheets (SDS). GHS becomes mandatory in Australia on 1 January 2017. Biotech Pure has chosen to implement this system on the Tripure range at launch.

Under the regulations, the manufacturer and importer of hazardous chemicals have a duty to correctly classify a chemical before the chemical is supplied to a workplace.

Even natural ingredients such as essential oils are considered to be a chemical under the legislation.

Why don’t all products have safety warnings?
The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) come into effect on 1 January 2017 so companies have until then to comply with the legislation. The legislation only applies to products being sold to workplaces. Products sold to consumers for use in the home are not required to have these warnings.

But these warnings make the product look dangerous

The majority of the warning are preventative warnings that will apply to all products classified as chemicals, as per the example below:

Precautionary statement – General: If medical advice is needed, have product container or label at hand. Keep out of reach of children. Read label before use. Precautionary Statement – Prevention: Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection. First Aid: Inhalation: If inhaled, remove affected person from contaminated area. Keep at rest until recovered. If symptoms persist seek medical attention. Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Wash out mouth thoroughly with water. Seek immediate medical attention. Skin: Wash affected area thoroughly with soap and water. If symptoms develop seek medical attention. Eye contact: If in eyes, hold eyelids apart and flush the eye continuously with running water. Remove contact lenses. Continue flushing until advised to stop by the Poisons Information Centre or a doctor, or for at least 15 minutes. Seek immediate medical attention. For advice in an emergency, contact the Poisons Information Centre 131 126. Additional information is listed in the Safety Data Sheet.

All products supplied to workplaces must have warnings like these on product labels from 1 January 2017

You claim your products are organic?
“Organic” can be used to label any product that contains a minimum of 95 percent organic ingredients (excluding salt and water). Up to 5 percent of the ingredients may be nonorganic.
What is the shelf life of your products?
Products should preferably be stored in a cool, dark place, free from significant changes in temperature. Our products will last many years under these conditions. As a general rule products stored in a workplace in a lit store room where temperatures can vary within a small range should be used within 12 months of purchase.
